MSVC++ Version 8 compiler options wrong in debug mode

Reported by: tkr Owned by: andreasw

Description

In the version 8 compiler, you specify -MTd to get code with debugging symbols and -MT to get code without debugging symbols. The option -Yd, which is the option currently used in coin.m4, is deprecated. Currently, you do not get code with debugging symbols with the cl compiler, even if you specify --enable-debug. Unfortunately, changing this will once again require a mass updating of configure scripts :(.

If -MTd works also for the v6 and v7 compilers, we can switch. Otherwise, we would need to test which version of CL we are using (messy!). I will contact JP regarding compatibilty of the options.

There are a number of things that are currently being addressed. Once we are though all of them, I can update all stable versions to ensure consistency.

Ok, according to JP, also the older MSVC compilers understand -MTd. I now changed this in coin.m4, both in trunk and in stable/0.5. Closing ticket.
