#38 fixed MSVC++ Version 8 compiler options wrong in debug mode andreasw tkr

In the version 8 compiler, you specify -MTd to get code with debugging symbols and -MT to get code without debugging symbols. The option -Yd, which is the option currently used in coin.m4, is deprecated. Currently, you do not get code with debugging symbols with the cl compiler, even if you specify --enable-debug. Unfortunately, changing this will once again require a mass updating of configure scripts :(.

#39 fixed user defined make not used in clean-local (and other) rules andreasw stefan

for Cbc and Clp I experienced that the rule

if test -r test/Makefile; then cd test; make clean; fi

does not use the make command that can be set using the MAKE environment variable for the configure call. When running under Windows, I get a problem here since the microsoft make does not work, so I want to use gmake.

Best, Stefan

#40 fixed Is --fomit-frame-pointer worth it? andreasw lou

The occasional bug report trickles in to the effect that C++ exception handling fails for some version of GCC (the 3.x series seems vulnerable). Usually it's reported as a failure in one of the unit tests. When pursued, the problem turns out to be this: The optimised build specifies --fomit-frame-pointer, and this tickles some bug in GCC which causes a failure to catch a throw.

A workaround is posted to the BuildTools current issues page. On the other hand, we'll likely keep on seeing this trickle of bug reports. Is the gain from --fomit-frame-pointer worth the low level irritation?
